A2 interburden and marker interval

The A2 interburden panel records fine heterolithic clastics together with the Suban marker used in the source correlation. The marker is operationally useful because it provides a recognisable level between seam packages, but visual similarity alone does not make it an isochron.

SOURCE-LED TECHNICAL READING

Geological interpretation and evidential boundary

The A2 interburden panel records fine heterolithic clastics together with the Suban marker used in the source correlation. The marker is operationally useful because it provides a recognisable level between seam packages, but visual similarity alone does not make it an isochron. Mineralogy, geochemistry or regionally consistent stratigraphic position would be needed to demonstrate one event bed. Until then, the record is a local correlation aid whose continuity is tested by core order and log response.
